Personally I would love it if the Niners used there first three picks on the OLine. The Cowboys did it to a degree in the 90's and they won some Superbowls (YUK)!!! If Alex Smith had time he could do some pretty great stuff. The realty is the Niners are weak on the Oline and in the defensive backfield. the best way to address this is to draft the BPA and go from there.

Cowboys never spent a 1st round pick on OL in the 90's, in fact Dallas hasn't spent a 1st round pick on an OL since 1981.

OK this doesent make sense, are you talking about BPA in general, otherwise players like Spiller or Bryant would be drafted over our glaring needs on the OL and Secondary?

You would be willing to give up the 17th pick in the draft for a 3rd down back/return specialist????

I can't see the niners keeping Goldson on the roster next year. Reggie Smith maybe an option, but Earl Thomas could start next year for most teams. I just don't see Reggie as a starter.

Please tell me this was sarcasm Goldson is a blossoming star, that, arguably, was our second best defensive player for most - if not all - of the year.

Any safety that comes in plays next to him, not ahead of him to be sure! Reggie Smith is the one running out of time to make an impact.

I would have to say that Goldson was definately not the best nor the second best defensive player on the Niners squad... more like 4th or 5th. Either way his impact was noticed most when the pass rush was at it's best. He was not quite as noticeable when then pressure wasn't there.

You are correct... I thought Stepnoski, Williams and Allen were taken in the late 1st round... MY BAD!!!!!!!
We can do much better than T. Williams at OT...he hasn't proven he can play LT and that's a must for Singletary in any 1st rd pick. As for Thomas, why draft a S who may someday play CB when you can draft one of the top CB's or someone like Iupati. I'd be totally stoked if we came out of the 1st rd with one of the other top OT's and the big Somoan. OL is our biggest need and two of the nation's best should go a long way toward fixing it. With Reggie Smith and Curtis Taylor already backing up M. Lewis, I just don't see S as a big need. CB, yes, but not S. If we only take one OL in 1st rd, then I'd opt for Mike Johnson over Jerry in 3rd...he's got more of the things OL Coach Solari's looking for, versatility, quickness and ability to zone block. I do like the Rolle and Blair White picks, though.
That would be wicked if McCourtney is there at #49

While I agree that Williams is no LT... I was thinking he would be a great RT. As for Earl Thomas... he is a great FS and could potentially start next year. I don't see the Niners resigning Goldson, and Lewis is one big hit away from retireing so, thats why the Rolle pick. I appreciate your observations of the other picks!!!
