you guys are trippen out if you think haden is overrated. you clearly havent watched a college football game by the florida gators. the guy is a stud cb! he would immediately be our #1. honestly, do we have a #1 CB on our team? NO! whatshisname got owned in that one game and had to be pulled out. spencer? is ok. brown? is learning. bly? is a fa and is not fast. shall i go on?
haden is a stud. if you are going to bring up some bs about his 40 time then you clearly dont know what actually went down that day. even deion stated (while haden was getting down to run) his stance and form were out of wack. he said he would have been faster if it wasnt for those two IMPORTANT things.
spiller on the other hand is a big ? for me. i dont think he'll be a chris johnson. but at the same time, i didnt watch many acc games so i dont know how he played.

Why wouldn't anyone like this draft?
You draft arguably the best cornerback in the draft and the best running back who happens to be the best returner.
In the 2nd, we draft a beast of a man in Veldheer who has potential to be a pretty good RT and then the second best guard prospect in Asamoagh.
Why anyone wouldn't like this is really beyond me.
I don't think Spiller is the best runningback. I don't mind the other picks at all, I just agree with krizay that Spiller is overrated.
Yes he is overrated by us but not to the point to where Bush was a few years ago. Spiller is a much better running back and an explosive kick returner. He also had very good rushing numbers in Clemson where their offensive line was not very good.
His value and skills should not be ignored just because we, as fans, overrate him.
BTW, who do you think is the best running back in the draft?
I think Mathews will prove to be the best back out of this class.
I don't doubt that Spiller could be a playmaker, I was on his bandwagon earlier. I'm just not completely sold on Spiller anymore, or that he will be everything posters claim he will be. And I won't be mad if we draft him (depending on who else is available) but there are just other players I prefer.

Completely understandable. I'm a BIG fan of Ryan Mathews myself and if we had an opportunity to select him late in the 1st, I wouldn't mind. But it does worry me a little that he had the one great year last season since he was bumped up to starter. I'm sure he would've provided the same type of results if he had started the previous two years, but it's always something to think about.

i like what i see. if we do end up drafting spiller, either mrob or coffee is out. mrob is our "role player" and coffee is coming off of a weak rookie season.. who's it going to be?

I'll have to talk to Walter...I can see one skill player in the 1st, but not two. I'm all over Haden...but not he and Spiller. I really don't see Singletary/Baalke leaving the 1st rd w/o one of the top OT's. Charles Brown would be better than the 2nd rd guys...he's very versatile, agile, and is closer to what Solari's looking for than the 2nd rd guys. I also wouldn't mind Iupati in the 1st...big as he is, he's also got very quick feet and would seem to be a Solari/Brown kind of OL. This just shows how many options the Niners have in the 1st rd...which is great, they can flow different ways depending on what other guys come off the board early and/or trades that happen.

If we draft Spiller all three of them will be on the team (if healthy). Norris will be the odd man out, especially since MRob can easily play FB (and we rarely use a FB in the Raye Offense)...
