Combine Inspired Mock Draft 3/2/10

Along with a majority of people on this board, I have become very intrigued with CJ Spiller as a homerun threat/backup RB/ KR/PR. With that being said I would not be upset at all if Scotty decided to go another direction and we ended up with an OLB/OT or DB/OT in round one. Here is my mock for the 49ers if they do decide to go the CJ Spiller route.

PS- I’m not a new member; I just get busy with school and don’t have time to post. Therefore my username was deleted and I had to make a new one. I read this board daily. Therefore I know you guys love to express your opinions and I have no problem hearing them all. LET ME HAVE IT!

Round 1 (13th Pick) –C.J. Spiller, RB Clemson
- Homerun Threat
- KR/PR, Back up RB, Slot Receiver all in one (Great value for one player)
- Percy Harvin type impact, but with much stronger RB skills
Round 1 (17th Pick) - Trent Williams, OT Oklahoma
- Big bodied and athletic right tackle
- Fits well into what where trying to build on the offensive line

* Might be gone at 13 with his Combine performance
- If he is then the pick is Brian Bulaga, OT Iowa

Round 2 (17th Pick) – Jerry Hughes, OLB TCU
- Great pass rush compliment to the more run oriented Haralson and Lawson
- Might come in originally as a 3rd down specialist
- Could evolve into an every down impact OLB

Round 3 (15th Pick) – Tyson Alualu, DE Cal-Berkley
- 3-4 DE experience
- Extremely high motor
- Always around the ball
- Nice size and average strength and quickness
- Could get playing time right away
Round 4 (15th Pick) – John Jerry, OG/OT Mississippi
- Huge size yet quick feet
- Great strength
- Some versatility as well (Held his own at RT in Senior Bowl)
Round 5 (14th Pick) – O’Brien Schofield, OLB Wisconsin
- Very talented pass rushing OLB
- Finished ’09 with 24.5 TFL and 12 sacks
- Earned MVP of East/West shrine game
- Tore ACL at 2010 Senior Bowl (Will most likely be unavailable for all of 2010)

Round 6 (13th Pick) – Myron Rolle, SS Florida State
- Big bodied safety that can take over now or in the future for Mike Lewis.
- Not a ball hawk but a solid tackler and athletic
- Obviously very intelligent (Rhodes Scholar), can never be harmful to have a guy with that much brains out there on the field

* If Rolle is gone (He seems to be rising up boards right now, then…)
- Harry Coleman, SS LSU
- Big frame
- Solid tackler (played both SS and OLB)
- DB depth and special teams value
- Push for a roster spot

Round 7 (17th Pick) – Micah Johnson, ILB Kentucky
- Big bodied ILB
- Very solid versus the run or pass
- Might be selected earlier, but could fall do to injuries/durability concerns

* Round 7 (Compensatory)- Kevin Thomas, CB USC
- Bigger, athletic cornerback
- Injury problems will see him go towards the tail end of the draft
- Could develop into a solid cornerback in the future
* According to Maiocco

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Well if Williams is gone by 13 I think that means Bulaga will either have to be picked at 13 by the Niners or would be already off the board also. I can't see Rolle making to the 6th round. Not sure he he ran super slow today or something but I think he goes in the 4th maybe late 3rd. Good mock
I was about to quit reading after your 17th pick, but the rest of your mock I actually like.

Doubt Williams will be available at 17, and I agree if Bulaga (who I have as a top-10 pick) if there at 13 you have to take him
You had me at Alu

I dont think rolle falls to the 6th round though
It's pretty good. My problem is with our 3rd round pick. We have too many DL under contract. I like Alualu but we are loaded there. I'd use that 3rd rounder on Reshad Jones or Kam Chancellor. You seem to try to address our secondary with VERY LATE picks. I wouldn't do that.

Otherwise nice job
Great job!

Couple things:
1. Trent Williams may not last till 13, let alone 17.
2. Rolle won't fall into the 6th.

Other than that....this mock would be a winner in my book!
