I approve of this mock.. I am warmining up to the idea of drafting Spiller and Iupati (as an OT).. Not sure Iupati will last to #16/17.. His name is cropping up a lot more often recently.. So we might end up with Bulaga or Williams instead.

Not bad at all, but i really hope you have them getting Peppers in FA or something to help out this pass rush. Them crushing the Cards, Rams and Lions don't make a solid pass rush imo.

What is interesting Dave, is that Iupati right now is having troubles at OT in the SB practices. If he continues that way, he won't be a top twenty pick, but a top 30 one instead. Still, I remember Mayock saying he can play all five positions, but his primary one would be OG.
If not, look for Spiller and Bulaga/Williams while drafting an OG in the second or third like Asamoah or Petrus.
I still want Spiller though...

Spiller would absolutely bring an X factor to the team we presently lack.. I get that.. I am just conflicted, knowing how much an improved OL would mean to the team.

I am right there with you man. Isn't funny how we are mostly wanting fatties as opposed to the skill positions.
That's what I am talking about! We here know the importance of those trenches and all we want is that ROT right now. But Ducasse, Iupati, Asamoah, Pouncey, Petrus, etc. make you want to grab them because they are so good inside especially given Baas' proneness to injury and this being his contract year too.
To me, depth wins championships, not D or O. One good player goes down and someone has to step up especially in the trenches.
That is why I wouldn't be surprised if we picked up two to three OLs in this draft. It certainly is one to do it in, huh?

He may can play all 5 positions but can he do it effectively is the question. I think he's gonna be a guard point blank. His measurable's and long ass arms makes folks want to try him OT but I don't think that will work out for him in the long run. I was all for OT then OG myself but i think Spiller than OT is much better value especially since I agree tha the Skins will pass on a OT allowing one guy to slip a bit further than he should.

I just hope that when #13 rolls around that there is more than 1 quality OT left on the board so that we can be certain that if we pick Spiller w/#13 there will be a Bulaga/Davis/Williams or someone left when we pick again at #16/17.. We just can't come out of of the 1st round without fixing the RT position.

This draft is as good as it gets. You are able to land
playmaker/return man
best OG.
Good speed CB in the 2nd
great value OT in the 3rd.
Great SS prospect as well in the 4th.
Awesome job Tico.

All you Spiller people is this guy just a gadget guy or can he eventually replace Gore at runningback?

He will never replace him, but he can succeed him. If Gore gets hurt again which he will as it is inevitable in today's NFL, both Spiller and Coffee become much better options than a combo of Coffee and Robinson, no?
Spiller can run between the tackles, but his preference is the outside. With he and Gore, we get that one-two punch especially with Spiller's speed and hands. He is also a good blocker on blitz pick up if I remember reading correctly.
Again, speed kills and he could do it in four positions KR, PR, RB and WR! He has played the slot and lined up on the edge...the Spiller Thread contains vids of such. Each time I look at that vid, I see some serious "juke" moves everytime, not just once. He's got "IT".
There is a reason that Caroll wanted Spiller for USC and I saw it first hand. Now, we are the ones to take Spiller away from him, again.
I really like that scenario!

So you think he can be an everydown back and eventually suceed Gore? That's the main question if your going to take him that high. Is he going to be a Reggie Bush type or can he play halfback fulltime?

Yes, I do. I see him being able to take the reigns over for Gore within 3 years.

Waiting for a RT until later Rds is completely contingent on Tony Pashos IMHO. If he resigns, and can come back and live up to his potential I can see it. The Niners have got to find a legit RT this year though, no questions asked.
