Top Ten Picks Question?

1 Ndamukong Suh DT Nebraska
2 Eric Berry S Tennessee
3 Gerald McCoy DT Oklahoma
4 Russell Okung OT Oklahoma State
5 Derrick Morgan DE Georgia Tech
6 Carlos Dunlap DE Florida
7 Trent Williams OT Oklahoma
8 Joe Haden CB Florida
9 Jason Pierre-Paul DE/OLB South Florida
10 Jimmy Clausen QB Notre Dame

I took the top ten mock draft players off of ABs top 120. It appears clear that if Suh, Berry, Okung, Haden and or Williams fell to us at our first pick there is a high probability that we would pick them. What about McCoy, Morgan, Dunlap, Pierre Paul, Clausen? Would we pick them if they dropped to us? If we would not is there a SF top ten or top 40 that they would pick in sequential descending order? Can anyone mock up that list that would be as close as outsiders could get as to how they think about the draft?

This would be my ranking of players that I would want the 49ers to pick at #13. It is not an attempt to predict what will happen or what Scott McCloughan's big board is, it's just my own ranking of what I THINK they should do.

My big board for the #13 pick:
1. Eric Berry
2. Ndamukong Suh
3. Russell Okung
4. Joe Haden
5. Gerald McCoy
6. Jimmy Clausen
7. Trent Williams
8. Brian Bulaga
9. Rolando McClain
10. Bruce Campbell
11. C.J. Spiller
12. Anthony Davis
13. Earl Thomas/ Mike Iupati?

What do you think? Do you agree or disagree?

4- Jimmy Clausen
5- Russell Okung
6- Sam Bradford
7- Derrick Morgan
8- Dez Bryant
9- Joe Haden
10- Rolando McClain
11- Anthony Davis
12- Carlos Dunlap
13- Earl Thomas
14- Jason Pierre-Paul
15- CJ Spiller
16- Trent Williams
17- Bryan Bulaga
18- Taylor Mays
19- Golden Tate
20- Bruce Campbell

Disagree. I don't think we'll take a QB in the first regardless of who falls to us. Same with Haden. Other than that I think that the list is probably fairly accurate

I would agree with your opinion that we aren't going to take a QB no matter who falls to us IF we didn't have two first round draft picks. If the #1 QB in the draft fell to us at #13 I can almost guarantee that we would pull the trigger, because then we could get our RT at #16. However, the top six of my big board will be long gone by the time the niners pick anyways, so who cares.

And why don't you think we would pick Haden if he fell to us? I think they would be VERY happy if he did.

I don't think CB is a big need for us. We've got some talented young players as well as older veterans. Safety is the position we need most in the secondary. While Haden is the best CB in this draft I don't think he's heads and shoulders above the #2 or #3 CBs. (Though I wouldn't be surprised to see him go before Berry based on what's happened historically in drafts).

I agree with you about the fact that we need a safety more than a corner, but I do not think that that would preclude us from taking Haden if he were to fall to 13. You can never have too many d-backs.

Thanks guys that was most helpful to me. I am looking for the list of 49 potentials to match our team and our needs.

I am taking ABs most recent 150 list and will cross out people I don't think we will take. This is simply an extension of the top 10. I don't know about a lot of these players but would appreciate your thoughts.

Italics are the players that I am predicting would not be on the Niners draft list. I am predicting that the Niners are not looking for QBs, RBs, TEs, and most ILBs, and most WRs unless they have kick and PR potential. I think we will be looking for Oline, Dline, OLBs, and SS and CB
