Goldbricker Mock 1.0

Of course I should be working, but I'd rather do some window shopping:

Tendered RFA’s
OG – David Baas – 2nd Round Tender / $1.6 Million
OLB – Amhad Brooks – 2nd Round Tender / $1.6 Million

Retained UFA‘s
OT – Barry Sims
OT – Tony Pashos
CB – Dre Bly
NT – Aubrayo Franklin

Trade
Offer 5th Round Pick to San Diego for RFA QB - Charlie Whitehurst. He’s here to compete for the #2 slot and a chance to be plan B in case Smith’s final stand flames out. He’s barely played beyond pre-season, but he can move pretty well and has the last two years with Norv Turner under his belt so he’d be relatively familiar with our current system.

2010 Draft
In this scenario Okung, Williams, Davis & Haden are gone at #13.

1 – (13): C.J. Spiller RB/KR - Clemson / True offensive/special team home run threat

Trade Back: (16/17) for (28) & (60) or some deal similar

1 – (28): Jason Fox OT – Miami / Competes with Pashos for RT spot.
2 – (49): Parrish Cox CB – Oklahoma State / Closing the speed gap & return game help.
2 – (60): Mike Johnson OG/OT – Alabama / Replacement for Baas at LG
3 – (80): Jermaine Cunningham OLB – Florida / Boom or bust pick?
4 – (114): Barry Church SS – Toledo / Should push Lewis immediately.
5 – (153): Traded to San Diego for Charlie Whitehurst
6 – (190): Joe Pawelek ILB – Baylor / A Baylor guy for Sing.
7 – (226): Random underachiever Singletary can turn around on the PS

2010 Roster

Offense (25)
WR: Michael Crabtree / Josh Morgan / Jason Hill / Brandon Jones / Dominique Zeigler
TE: Vernon Davis / Delanie Walker
LT: Joe Staley / Barry Sims
LG: Mike Johnson / David Baas
OC: Eric Heitmann / Cody Wallace
RG: Chilo Rachal / Adam Snyder
RT: Jason Fox / Tony Pashos
QB: Alex Smith / Charlie Whitehurst / Nate Davis
RB: Frank Gore / C.J. Spiller / Glen Coffee / Michael Robinson
FB: Moran Norris

Defense (25)
DE: Justin Smith / Ray McDonald / Demetric Evans
NT: Aubrayo Franklin / (Isaac Sopoaga / Kentwan Balmer)
UT: Isaac Sopoaga / Kentwan Balmer / Ricky Jean-Francios
OLB: Parys Haralson / Manny Lawson / Ahmad Brooks / Jermaine Cunningham
ILB: Patrick Willis / Takeo Spikes / Scott McKillop / Joe Pawelek
CB: Nate Clements / Shawntae Spencer / Tarell Brown / Parrish Cox / Dre Bly
S: Michael Lewis / Dashon Goldson / Barry Church / Curtis Taylor / Reggie Smith

Special Teams (3)
PK: Joe Nedney
P: Andy Lee
KR/PR: C.J. Spiller / Parrish Cox
LS: Brian Jennings

What is it with people picking off my "sneaky" picks? I'm not going to change my write-up on Pawelek, and figure to keep him in my mock.

Simple comment on this: Don't know how realistic this is, but as far as the picks themselves, most appear realistic. However, I'm very doubtful we'd trade any pick away like that, especially for Charlie Whitehurst. I would not be a fan of that move.

Top picks: Spiller, Cox, Pawelek.

any draft not addressing pass rush at all gets 2 thumbs down from me. I like the Fox pick though but how serious is his injury?

Love this pick

7 – (226): Random underachiever Singletary can turn around on the PS

I think it's very possible that we get Spiller. I think he'll be there for our 1a and McC has shown he's not afraid to draft BPA over areas of need (see Crabtree/Oher). We could tender Brooks for $2 million and any team that wants him would have to give up a 1st.

Jermiane Cunningham is pegged as the pass rush help.

I'm not sure how bad Fox's injury is . . . but it's something he played with for most of the season.

You are correct I didn't see that the 1st time. It's just pulls at me both ways when it comes down to taking Spiller or an OT at that spot. I would like to see them better address the pass rush though b/c majority of this teams sacks came against the Rams, Detroit and both Cards games. I really like the Cox pick

Fox is very intriguing early I seen him ranked al a late 1st rounder but as stated not sure about his injury.

I'd rather them take a flyer on a player in the 5th round than trading for Whitehurst. I mean might as well give Davis reps if it comes down to that.

Didn't mean to steal your sneaky pick . . . don't change anything on my account. I just threw him in because from everything I've read he sounds like a typical Niner "character" guy and he's from Sing's alma mater. Never seen him play a live down . . . but of course he went to Baylor so I'm sure not many here did.

With the Whitehurst thing I was just thinking some new blood would be good, but I wanted someone who'd have less of a learning curve than another draft pick or a player from another system. If we're awarded a late round compensatory pick I wouldn't mind seeing a move like this. Seems pretty low risk.
Nice mock

Doable but I say let Michael Lewis walk (need more speed and health issues), and I would rather Keep Wragge over Snyder or Wallace but that is just me. Not totally sold on Ziegler either.
I like the spiller pick but everything else is just wrong. I wonder is this Scott McClueless in here posing as one of us? Because that is the kind of draft he would think is good!

Care to elaborate or are you just trying to sound cool?

Why do you keep giving us the 17th pick in every round? We have the 13th.

Which is really neither here nor there but.............

After the first round our pick will rotate with all the other 8-8 teams. In the second round we go to the end of the line and then move up a pick round by round . . . and I made some ball-park adjustments for compensatory picks.
Why Charlie Whitehurst?

I was looking a bring in a #2 who could move around better than Hill and possibly develop if Smith chokes . . . without having to give up the farm.
