Seasons over mock 1.0

Dont like your draft either. Hughes is good but there are several OLB to choose from in rd 2. The better options would be the elite athletes... Joe Haden or CJ Spiller with our first pick and then a RT with our 2nd pick.

Definetily unlikely, but New England's in position to do so. They have a stock load of picks and their time at the top is running out.

I just don't see the player they make that move for.
Don't like the draft, but really want a new o-line coach.
that trade scenario makes no sense at all
I agree with almost everything you said especially the part about keeping the coaching staff minus our Oline coaches. Anyone else would be better.

Trades:

Manny Lawson - hopefully we can get a 3rd rounder for him. Love him, but he isn't a 3-4 OLB.

Let Walk:

David Baas OG
Walt Harris CB
Mark Roman FS
Marcus Hudson DB
Tony Pashos OT

Re-Sign:

OT - Barry Sims OT
CB - Bly – He’s still a solid cover guy.
NT - Franklin – Of course his best year was his contract year. Franchise if necessary.
OLB – Ahmad Brooks – Depth at OLB and ILB

Free Agents:

OG - Logan Mankins – McCloughan just missed on him in 2005 and ended up with Baas.
OLB/DE - Julius Peppers - that's right. He wants to play in a 3-4 so let him be our stand up "elephant" linebacker. Let Lawson, Brooks and Haralson fight it out to see who stays and starts on the other side.

Draft

1A – Trade back for another 2nd and first next year (to be used on Mark Ingram)
1B – Jerry Hughes/OLB/DE - TCU
2A - Mike Iupati/OG/OT - Idaho
2B – Dennis Pita/TE - BYU (He will make VD tradeable...watch...he can make every play VD can but is 3'' taller and has much much better hands)
3 – Robert Johnson/FS - Utah

RT - Pashos – We draft an RT on day one of the draft and make him beat-out Pashos

Free Agents
OG - Logan Mankins – McCloughan just missed on him in 2005 and ended up with Baas.
FS – O.J. Atogwe – Up until this year he’s been a big time ball hawk. Berry will be gone.
OLB – Chike Okeafor – No more than a two year deal. Veteran depth.

Draft
Trade down using our first rounder from Carolina (10). Random trade scenario with New England swapping #10 for their 2010 first rounder (26), their 2011 first rounder and one of their three 2010 second rounders (44). I haven’t studied the draft much yet . . . I’m sure most of these are obvious.

4 – John Jerry/OG - Mississippi
5 – LeGarrette Blount/RB - Oregon
6 - DB
7 - DT

OC: Eric Heitmann / Cody Wallace
QB: Alex Smith / Shaun Hill / Nate Davis
RB: Frank Gore / Glen Coffee / LeGarrette Blount / Michael Robinson
FB: Garrett Graham

Defense (25)
DE: Justin Smith / Ray McDonald / Demetric Evans / Kentwan Balmer
NT: Aubrayo Franklin / Isaac Sopoaga / Ricky Jean-Francios
OLB: Parys Haralson / Manny Lawson / Chike Okeafor / Jerry Hughes
ILB: Patrick Willis / Takeo Spikes / Scott McKillop / Ahmad Brooks
CB: Nate Clements / Shawntae Spencer / Tarell Brown / Dre Bly / Brandon Gee
S: O.J Atogwe / Michael Lewis / Dashon Goldson / Reggie Smith / Curtis Taylor

Special Teams (3)
PK: Joe Nedney

How in the world is our second first round pick at 26? Please explain that to me. Thx

Just a random trade-down scenario with the Patriots that's getting much more attention than it deserves.

I valued the Carolina pick at 1300 and New England's 2010 1st rounder at 700 and their 2011 1st rounder at 300-350 (because picks for future drafts are depreciated by 50%). Then I threw in one of New Englands three 2010 second round picks to make up the balance. Viola! Imaginary trade!

Granted any team (especially the Patriots) would have to be in love with a player to do anything close to this.

I have a feeling Vereen will be better. Just a gut feeling when I watch both play.
