Seasons over mock 1.0

I’ve been tinkering with this for a few days just for fun. With the Seattle loss we’re done . . . so what better time to solve all the 49ers problems? Here’s the plan . . .

No change in GM or HC. Fire Foerster. Hire this guy . . . Greg Roman

Let Walk
David Baas OG
Walt Harris CB
Barry Sims OT
Mark Roman FS
Marcus Hudson DB

Re-Sign
CB - Bly – He’s still a solid cover guy.
NT - Franklin – Of course his best year was his contract year. Franchise if necessary.
RT - Pashos – We draft an RT on day one of the draft and make him beat-out Pashos
OLB – Ahmad Brooks – Depth at OLB and ILB

Free Agents
OG - Logan Mankins – McCloughan just missed on him in 2005 and ended up with Baas.
FS – O.J. Atogwe – Up until this year he’s been a big time ball hawk. Berry will be gone.
OLB – Chike Okeafor – No more than a two year deal. Veteran depth.

Draft
Trade down using our first rounder from Carolina (10). Random trade scenario with New England swapping #10 for their 2010 first rounder (26), their 2011 first rounder and one of their three 2010 second rounders (44). I haven’t studied the draft much yet . . . I’m sure most of these are obvious.

1A (15) – Jerry Hughes/OLB - TCU
1B (26) – Jason Fox/OT - Miami
2A (44) – Brandon Ghee/CB – Wake Forest
2B (49) – Mardy Gilyard/WR-KR - Cincinnati
3 – Garrett Graham/FB-H-Back - Wisconsin
4 – John Jerry/OG - Mississippi
5 – LeGarrette Blount/RB - Oregon
6 - DB
7 - DT

Offense (25)
WR: Michael Crabtree / Josh Morgan / Brandon Jones / Jason Hill / Mardy Gilyard
TE: Vernon Davis / Delanie Walker
OT: Joe Staley / Jason Fox / Tony Pashos / Adam Snyder

OC: Eric Heitmann / Cody Wallace
QB: Alex Smith / Shaun Hill / Nate Davis
RB: Frank Gore / Glen Coffee / LeGarrette Blount / Michael Robinson
FB: Garrett Graham

Defense (25)
DE: Justin Smith / Ray McDonald / Demetric Evans / Kentwan Balmer
NT: Aubrayo Franklin / Isaac Sopoaga / Ricky Jean-Francios
OLB: Parys Haralson / Manny Lawson / Chike Okeafor / Jerry Hughes
ILB: Patrick Willis / Takeo Spikes / Scott McKillop / Ahmad Brooks
CB: Nate Clements / Shawntae Spencer / Tarell Brown / Dre Bly / Brandon Gee
S: O.J Atogwe / Michael Lewis / Dashon Goldson / Reggie Smith / Curtis Taylor

Special Teams (3)
PK: Joe Nedney
P: Andy Lee
KR: Mardy Gilyard
LS: Brian Jennings

how did u get a 15th and 26th pick its gonna be more like 9th and 10th
With the Niners missing the playoffs once again, why in heaven's name would you trade away a top 10 pick? The Niners need talent at a number of positions, but they already have plenty of picks. Passing on a top 10 talent is not the way to go IMO.

A few other points:

- Okeafor is done; wasted signing
- J Fox is not a first round talent
- Mardy Gilyard is not going to be there in the second round
- Unless we get another younger OT who can play both sides, I would keep Sims around and dump Harris. The secondary needs youth and speed, not a 14 yr veteran coming off of knee surgery.

Yea even the patriots used the top 10 pick that we sent them.
Not a chance in the world Gilyard falls that far.

Actually it was a #7 . . . The Pats traded down to #10.

I don't know why I traded down . . . for the hell of it mostly . . . just pretending that the top teir DB's and OT's will be gone and we'd be better off moving down.
I dont see why we should get rid of Marcus Hudson.. Honestly he is a good special teamer and probably an ok depth for our secondary, And then you want to use our first pick and take a OLB??? Thats Non-sense our LBs are fine, think OL or Safety.
Rolando Mcclain with 1st pick (him and willis would kill for years) or taylor mays if he falls, berry wont fall but I hope he does. And Joe Haden with our 2nd 1st round pick. and Ciron Black in the 2nd round.

Our OLB's are fine ??? We need pass rush help in a huge way.
I don't like Blount

But you're a Cal Homer
I Like Blount his better than Coffee imo and would have been on the upper end of the draft if not for his suspension for throwing a punch.
no way we get Okefor, Hughes, Brooks, Lawson, Haralson, and Briggs
LOL. You honestly think New England would trade 2 firsts and a second to move up 15 or so spots??? That would never happen.

Dont like your draft either. Hughes is good but there are several OLB to choose from in rd 2. The better options would be the elite athletes... Joe Haden or CJ Spiller with our first pick and then a RT with our 2nd pick.
