First Offseason Mock

While I think its unlikely either of the OL you have us signing will hit FA, I think its next to impossible for us to sign both of them. Quality linemen are ALWAYS in demand, just take a look at the top 10 picks from the past few years drafts. Another team will guaranteed open up the pocketbook wider then us to get one of these guys.

As far as the draft, I would like Berry but I don't see it happening unless he posts a poor combine. Berry is a blue chip ballhawk and I think he will go top 5, and I don't see CAR doing poorly enough to end up that high.

The rest of the draft looks pretty solid.
My main point is that we need to add some legit Olineman if we are going to ever be successful with the type of offense Sing and Raye want.

Regretfully, the OT's in the draft are very weak compared to years past. The only lineman I even like is that Iupati kid from Idaho.

There are a ton of OLB prospects that could possibly be had at a better value than those I suggested like Dumervil, Gocong, Ogunleye, Anderson...even Merriman or Peppers could work.

I think our main issue though is at RT, and I would rather sign a FA RT than draft a wild card RT.

Maybe doing something like adding Merriman and McNeil in FA and adding Berry and Iupati in the draft would be better. Or, trading up to add a pass rusher like Hughes or Kindle and only adding McNeil in FA would be more realistic.

Sounds like a good idea.
If that offseason really happened I would buy season tickets.
McNeil has had some serious neck problems and I would be a little worried about throwing big money at him. I do think Logan Mankins will be a 49er.

Draft, We don't pick high enough to get Eric Berry. I'd think we got one of the OT's (Okong, Williams or Buluga) and a pass rusher, I really like Jerry Hughes.

I would suggest a Version 2 of your mock since we won't be able to get either FA or Berry.

I agree about Berry but if they sign the agreement and we have regular free agency what makes you think we can't sign one of those guys?

For one, I think SD and NE both use there tags on McNeil and Mankins. I'm sure they both realize its better to keep your QB safe then yoour defense together. Especially when they drafted replacements for Merriman and Wilfork with Larry English and Ron Brace.

your probably right about SD but i can't remember a time when NE used a franchise tag. I think the 9ers will sign 1 big FA OL and 1 D player either a S or passrusher. They will then go OL/D player (S or pass rush) in round 1
