I know it will not happen but if he slipped for any reasons and we're there we better get this man and say bye to A. Franklin.
That would be waaaaaaay to reckless
what do mean...if you can elaborate on your thought.
Dumping a proven vet who is getting to the point of possible pro bowl consideration for a rookie who is better suited as a 4-3 DT is in my judgment reckless. Suh will be heading for Tampa come April.

I am on the McClain train with you...that is of course if Berry, Bryant, and Spiller are gone

You get a player of his capability then you damn right better switch to what fits his abilities the best and the 4-3 with him wouldn't be bad especially with Franklin on a franchise tag to be the run stopper and have him be the pass rushing DT. Have Smith on the outside and look for another DE. Have Lawson Willis and Spikes play LB and it won't be so bad of a transition back to the 4-3

In case you may have missed the Nebraska/Texas Championship game yesterday, Suh is going to be LONG gone by the time the 49ers pick. He was absolutely dominant last night, looking like a man among boys with 8 tackles and 3.5 SACKS. He also looks like more of a 4-3 DT than a 3-4 guy.

Yesterday Suh looked like he could play wherever he wanted. What he did to the Texas offensive line was awesome. He certainly helped his cause, but I fear the Heisman voters are prone to the big name offensive stars.

In case you missed it, i never said we were going to get him, i only said you change your teams defensive scheme if you get a player like him and never said the 49ers should use him in the 3-4. Read carefully.

I've always believed that D-line could truly win you championships. This guy may be the next Reggie White. We talk about needing an OLB to get a pass rush, but Suh may be dominant enough to get 10+ sacks from the 3-4 DE position. He may be the best defensive player I've ever seen in college. Thoughts?

I was about to pose the same question. Simply put, I have never seen a DT/NT as dominant as Suh -- simply unstoppable.
He's the kind of guy you would switch to a 4-3 for. Imagine a front 4 of Smith/Suh/Franklin/Sopoaga -- with Willis as a true ILB.
Or, put Suh at the 3-4 end position and move Smith to Elephant/OLB.

I'm a Nebraska Alum, so while this may be a biased opinion, it's also well informed since I've watched every game this year and more importantly, watched Suh all year. This isn't hype with him, he is the real deal.
As for his position, they've moved him around a little bit, Saturday he was rushing from the End in a 4-3 lineup a couple time, so he's shown some versatility. Bottom line, I think he can play end in a 3-4, taking Sopoaga's spot. That would give you Smith, Franklin, Suh - would be fantastic. However, that's not a need for us, and I wouldn't trade up for that. We need O-line in a bad way.

As we sit now at 10 and 12, we are looking at picking up two very nice players. I agree that Suh is a difference maker and might be worth trading for, but take a look at who is going to fall to us.
Looking at the schedule, these picks should be 8ish and 14ish. We can adress 2 significant needs with impact starters at these positions. DL is not really a current need.
