I checked all the Commish Tools.
But I don't have any power to add anybody to the DL since it doesn't technically exist yet. DL doesn't exist until Opening Day.
Sorry
I mean, we could push back the start of "free agency" in this league to opening day......but I'm not a fan of doing this.

meh.. not going to lose any sleep over this. I took him late anyways. Definitely replaceable.
I'm just glad this is getting sorted out now.

fantasy aside, I read an article by a Reds' beat writer on this and he makes a pretty good argument as to why Cincy is making a huge mistake with this move

It says a lot that Champan has publicly stated that he wants to be a closer, despite the fact that he would earn more money even as a marginal 5th starter.
He knows he'll be more successful closing and so do the Reds.
Even though it defies logic, and even though he was signed originally to be a starter someday....both he and the Reds must not think he'll be successful starting.

I think it'd be stupid to even consider Chapman as a starter. I guess I look at the old saying "if it isn't broke, don't fix it"
The guy had 122K in 71.2 IP. When you think of the term DOMINANT, he is that guy. Closers that absolutely dominate aren't easy to find anymore. Hell, some teams don't even know who they want closing games.
The Reds can go with a starting 5 of:
Johnny Cueto
Mat Latos
Homer Bailey
Bronson Arroyo
Sean Marshall
and be just fine. Plus, now they have Broxton in the 8th and Chapman in the 9th.
Move is a no brainer for me.

So we're waiting to add people at 5pm on Friday right, because it says they're all FA's right now.

But the value of a starting pitcher (even an average one) so greatly outweighs the value of a closer (even an elite one).
