In this article, I'll be looking at the domino effect of drafting Roquan Smith or Tremaine Edmunds, and how it impacts Reuben Foster's overall status with the team (from an analytical perspective). Recently, I wrote two features that have relevance to this article on 49ers Webzone, titled: Intervention Specialist Perspective: Reuben Foster's actions can't be condoned; Still needs support and Why NFC West quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Jared Goff are hoping the 49ers don't draft Harold Landry. There are questions that will soon...

San Francisco 49ers' promising young linebacker, Reuben Foster, was recently charged with felony domestic abuse by the Santa Clara DA's office. Back in February, I wrote a feature on the 49ers Webzone, titled: Looking at the Culture and Infrastructure Around Reuben Foster. In this article, I covered Foster's upbringing, putting into perspective Foster's adversity and emotional state throughout life, and the support system needed for him to have on- and off-the-field success. First and foremost, I don't condone Foster's actions one bit, especially as a father with a daughter of my own. And having worked in the Bay Area with battered woman and survivors of domestic...

Recently on 49ers Webzone, I laid out several reasons why the 49ers needed a pass-rusher while featuring Harold Landry from Boston College in No Pass-Rusher, "No Rings." Seattle Seahawks' quarterback Russell Wilson and division rival quarterback Jared Goff of the Los Angeles Rams combined for 718 yards passing, six touchdowns and one interception, while only being sacked three times in three games (all sacks credited to Wilson in week two)--all wins--versus the 49ers in 2017. The two signal callers also combined to complete at least 65 percent of their passes. Wilson has led the...

As the NFL Draft steady approaches and mock drafts continue to surface, one player that won't be in my mock draft (coming soon to a platform near you) with the ninth overall pick (assuming of course that the 49ers stay at nine) is defensive tackle Vita Vea. Why is that? Because as they say: two is company and three's a crowd. While Vea is a great prospect, he doesn't fit. Sorry, don't shoot the messenger. Allow me to explain my blasphemous statement. The 49ers currently have six interior defensive linemen under contract for 2018; Arik Armstead, Sheldon Day,...

There's a narrative that's been floating around that the Los Angeles Rams are in win-now mode and have only a one-to-two-year window of winning or being highly competitive. That narrative might not be completely true, and I'll attempt to explain why. Recently, I wrote an article on the 49ers Webzone titled: Are the Los Angeles Rams sending a competitive message to the 49ers? Recently, the Los Angeles Rams traded for former New England Patriots' wide receiver Brandin Cooks. The Rams expect Cooks to be their deep threat in 2018,...

This article was written to express the importance of Jimmy Garoppolo and how much he means to the San Francisco 49ers and their fan base: "The Faithful." It is from a different perspective, using a different style of delivery. Disclaimer: this article will be written without video attachments, statistics, and analytics. Instead, it will be written and delivered via a style called Flowetry. What is Flowetry? A form of rapping in a poetic form; soft, melodic rhymes that form a story and bring light to a subject otherwise misunderstood (according to the Urban dictionary). However, there's no misunderstanding of what Jimmy G truly is and what he means to the 49ers and their fan base. On a...

The Los Angeles Rams have agreed to terms with defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh on a one-year deal, worth up to $14 million, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Los Angeles Rams have had an extremely active offseason with the key additions of cornerbacks Marcus Peters, Aqib Talib, and Sam Shields, as well as the re-signing of Nickell...

As the NFL draft steadily approaches, many experts are projecting what the 49ers will do with their ninth-overall selection come April 26th. Since the new regime of general manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan have taken over the keys to the franchise in Santa Clara, they've done a great job at addressing the team's football needs. Between the draft, trade or via free agency, the 49ers' front office has added some key foundational pieces; a franchise quarterback in Jimmy Garoppolo, offensive weapons (OW) in FB/TE Kyle Juszczyk and RB/WR Jerick McKinnon. The 49ers also added a speedy receiver in Marquise Goodwin, an athletic center in Weston Richburg, dynamic LB Reuben Foster...

The San Francisco 49ers' cornerback position is still missing a shutdown cornerback. Either of the two top cornerback prospects in Joshua Jackson or Denzel Ward will do over last season's "lukewarm options" outside of rookie cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon, but who's the better fit? As the 2018 NFL Draft steadily approaches, the 49ers need to address their cornerback position as they haven't had a shutdown cornerback since "Primetime" Deion Sanders wore the uniform. It's said that numbers never lie, but do they tell the whole story? In 2017, the 49ers...

Recently, the Los Angeles Rams traded for former Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Marcus Peters, making their own cornerback Trumaine Johnson, who's a pending free agent, expendable. I'm asking the question: Is cornerback Trumaine Johnson worth five years and $68 million? First and foremost ladies and gentlemen, Johnson's market value estimates at five years and $68,336,135, per Spotrac.com, which breaks down to the top four or five salaries of his professional peers, (annual salary of $13.6 million). Johnson, over the last two years, has been franchise tagged a whopping...

Recently, NFL reporter for CBS Sports, Jason La Canfora, reported hearing chatter about Pro Bowl cornerback Marcus Peters' stay in Kansas City possibly being short-lived and that he expects talks to intensify next week at the NFL Combine. I recently delivered on the 49ers Webzone an article entitled: Looking at the Culture and Infrastructure Around Reuben Foster. That article helped lay the groundwork and blueprint for why I'm delivering the second installment from an intervention specialist perspective: The Reuben Foster Effect: Why the 49ers won't trade for Marcus Peters. Disclaimer: To be crystal clear, Marcus Peters isn't Reuben Foster in...

Recently, on the 49ers Webzone, I presented and laid out an optimistic perspective on Reuben Foster while challenging the talented linebacker to take responsibility/accountability for his actions and becoming a better professional on and off the field moving forward. In light of Foster's second arrest within the last 40 days, which involves domestic violence, threats, and assault weapon charges, I am now turning my attention to the culture and infrastructure around Reuben Foster; from an intervention specialist perspective. Now hold...

Recently, it was announced that New England Patriots' quarterback Tom Brady was the 2017 NFL's Most Valuable Player. In this article, delivered exclusively on the 49ers Webzone, I'll attempt to make a compelling and objective argument as to why Jimmy Garoppolo will be the favorite to become the NFL's 2018 MVP. Now before becoming an NFL MVP, you have to be under contract with an NFL team. And that's something the San Francisco 49ers, led by General Manager John Lynch, are working diligently to get done with pending free agent Jimmy Garoppolo and his agent, Don Yee in the next coming days (per NFL Network's Ian Rapport). Five...

Recently, it was reported that five-time Pro Bowl cornerback Aqib Talib of the Denver Broncos was on the trading block and could very well be released if no suitors are willing to give up compensation for his services (via Pro Football Talk). Having a Pro-Bowl caliber to an elite level cornerback has eluded the 49ers for several years since the likes of Hall of Famer Deion Sanders (1994-elite Pro-Bowler and All-Pro with six interceptions), Eric Davis (1995-Pro-Bowler and All-Pro with three interceptions),...

Recently on the Webzone, I created some buzz by asking the question: Is Allen Robinson worth a four-year, $58 million contract? I also ended the article by saying, "To be continued." Well, I'd now like to continue with the sequel: Why a Jimmy G led offense will attack defenses by committee in 2018. Having success without your top offensive target The world witnessed the New England Patriots' future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady lead his offense to a come-from-behind win after being down by 10 points in the 4th quarter against the second-best defense in the NFL and...

Recently, Dallas Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones (the son of owner Jerry Jones) said of his high price wide receiver Dez Bryant, who signed a five-year, $70 million deal in 2015, that sometimes he is a distraction (via A.J. Perez of USA Today). The 2018 free agency period will soon be upon the San Francisco 49ers, and discussion has surfaced amongst the Forty-Niner Faithful of wanting the 49ers to take a flier on Bryant (if he were...

2018 NFL free agency: Is wide receiver Allen Robinson Worth four-years and $58 million? Robinson has had some history with lower leg injuries and has been on injured reserve twice during his four NFL seasons. Jacksonville Jaguars' Allen Robinson was a Pro Bowl receiver in 2015. He stands at 6-foot-3 and 220 lbs., and is likely looking for something close to a four-year, $58 million deal as a pending free agent (per Rotoworld.com). The salary desired by Robinson might look familiar because it's the same contract that...

Turning something negative into a positive: For every minor setback there's a major comeback, featuring "Reuben Foster." How we got here Prize rookie LB Reuben Foster has been in the news recently for marijuana possession (via NFL.com) and potentially stands to lose millions based on the language of his contract (per CBS Sports' Joel Corry), and a possible suspension (via NFL Network reporter...

Recently on Niners Live, I made a strong case why Marquise Goodwin deserves a contract extension. Now I'll try to make an even stronger case for why kicker Robbie Gould deserves a contract extension. Related: Why Marquise Goodwin Deserves a Contract Extension The San Francisco 49ers and General Manager John Lynch wasted no time in signing free agent kicker Robbie Gould, who stands at 6-0 and weighs 190 lbs., to replace former Forty-Niners' kicker...

Recently on Niners Live, we dropped: Why the 49ers should Re-sign Carlos Hyde; but Will They? And now we take it a step further: What Carlos Hyde would bring to the playoff table if re-signed in 2018. Wait, what? Playoffs?! Don't talk about playoffs! Are you kidding me? Playoffs?! I'm just hoping we can win a game, another game! (In the words of Jim Mora Sr., and no pun intended, of course). Yes, this article is about to come from a different perspective, indeed, and if you have been tuning into Niners Live you know how we move and do it... The Forty-Niners are expected to make the playoffs in 2018, so says NFL...
